I feel that this blog has lost its original focus. Which doesn't matter all that much, as I don't consider any of this good writing, but more of just an outlet (OUTLET MALL!!!! Is it bad that every time I think "outlet" I think shopping even if someone is talking about a wall socket? Braving the back racks of Off 5th for surprises like Lanvin parachute pants or Miu Miu wooden platform sandals, most of which I never even buy because it's still out of my price range, in the face of mean Asian ladies from Duluth and carpet cleaner and air conditioning so intense it makes me feel like I have a sinus infection???). I'm just going to stop.
Pie equals creative output equals writing-inducive thoughts while making churning crusts so HELP?
Conclusion:
I need to make a pie. There are a bunch of recipes I've found for summer pies. Strawberry rhubarb is what I've settled on.

I love making apple pies from scratch when I have the time. I'm moving on to pumpkin this year. My favorite pie & pie crust recipes are in the Joy of Cooking (I have the 1997 edition).
Out of curiosity, what do you think the term "hipster" has come to mean?
I think "hipster" is now an all-encompassing term used for anyone wearing skinny jeans and big glasses who likes any music other than Daughtry. It's also a more derogatory term than it used to be. And just tired I guess. Like, everyone always talks about how much they hate hipsters when the concept is so nebulous, and usually the people who hate are either hipsters in training or the biggest meatheads ever.
When I was younger (like eighteen, nineteen) I feel like having hipster tendencies meant you loved Cat Power and Pavement and hated frat guys and were on the fringe of popular culture. Now "hipster" could define anyone from Katy Perry to Spike Jonze (it makes me boil inside that he spells his name with a "z" by the way).
Do you have any pie recipes you'd highly recommend? Or tips for producing a good crust (the hardest part!)?
ETA: I would consider myself a hipster hater, but the kind of hipsters I hate are posers trying to like alterna-music to be edgy, or fake poor people who slum it by wearing paint-splattered skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters and coating their jet black hair in thirty dollar Bumble and Bumble products* to make it look grimy.
*Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Bumble and Bumble. But I don't pretend I don't.
